Week 6: Monday 23rd March “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life” (John 14:6)
Jesus said: “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life”. These words can really shape how we approach Lent.
The Way: Following Jesus’ Lead
When Jesus says he’s the Way, he’s inviting us to follow his example. Lent is a good time to ask ourselves: Are we really following in his footsteps? Are we acting with kindness, forgiveness, and humility, just like he did? Sometimes we get off track, and Lent is a great reminder to find our way back. When we do, we find real hope and meaning.
The Truth: Living Honestly
Jesus also calls himself the Truth. That means being honest—not just with other people, but with ourselves too. Lent pushes us to face up to the tough stuff: our mistakes, our weaknesses, and the places where we fall short. It’s not always easy, but it’s worth it. God’s love doesn’t go away, even when we mess up. Lent gives us a chance to be real, and to grow in honesty and integrity.
The Life: Choosing What Gives Life
Jesus says he’s the Life, and that’s an invitation to grow and change. Lent is a time for trying out new habits and letting go of the old ones that drag us down. Jesus offers us a full, abundant life—one packed with purpose, joy, and peace. We get to respond by doing things that bring life, like being generous, caring, and keeping the faith. As Easter gets closer, we can look forward to the promise of new beginnings.
As you go through Lent, take a little time each day to think about Jesus’ words. What does it mean for you to follow his Way? Where is his Truth challenging you? How can you welcome the Life he gives? Let these questions shape your prayers and actions and help you get ready for the hope and celebration of Easter. Here’s to a Lent that brings you closer to deep faith and bright hope.
Prayer: Jesus, show me your way when I feel lost or confused. Teach me what’s true and help me live in a way that honours you. Let my life point others to you and give me the courage and wisdom I need each day. Amen.
